Over the past five years, the research fellowship program has promoted pioneering research, while the next generation of academic leaders strengthens the next generation of academic leaders. With investments of almost $ 23 million, the program has supported 400 research projects and 430 researchers in early careers in 75 countries. Our mission has always been crystal clear: Brokening the financing gap for the Faculty of Early Career and cultivating a society of sponsors dedicated to advancing their innovative work.
As a result, these scholars have not only made progress in their specialized areas, but have also democratized access to their findings. By making their work easily accessible to the public, our recipients launched a strong “domino effect” of knowledge sharing and cooperation. Their contributions extend consistently far beyond the initial extent of their research program prices and creates a sustained heritage of scientific progress.
Dr. Anil Ufuk Batmaz, an assistant professor at Concordia University and a previous recipient, attesting the program’s influence: “This program was one of the best price experiences I’ve had. Our sponsor at Google was incredibly supportive and always available for high -quality discussions. It was without another thought the most productive research project in our group.”
We basically understand that lasting scientific influence is linked to three critical columns: sustained funding, access to a community of practice and cultivation of strong interdisciplinary conditions. When we recognize this, we start a new chapter. Based on the incredible results of our previous recipients, we are proud to advertise an investment of $ 4.7 million to support 87 research fellow recipients. This new funding will allow our recipients to strengthen their influence and enable downstream discoveries.
While we remain deeply engaged in honoring work with the individual faculty, our strategic focus is now shifting to strengthen the entire research ecosystem. This means to develop our support in addition to only traditional academic institutions to include activation of organizations and collaborative networks, such as Google.org’s Fund of $ 20 million for AI and Science. With this approach, we aim to increase support for more scientists around the world and catalyze a lasting ring effect that is driving scientific progress in the coming years.
We are hopeful that other philanthropic financing will join us in this critical endeavor that together support long -term results for the global scientific community and their important research.
